At the m@trix, in addition to having modern (fully equipped) workstations, a fast network and hi-speed internet access, we also offer a comprehensive range of services catering for the needs of both business people and our other visitors, who are here in Naxos on holiday.
Guest Email Account
If you already have a web-based email account (with Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo for example), or one that is accessible from web (from your home ISP or place of work), then we provide fast and efficient access... with both a choice of browsers and [multi-language] spellchecking, if required!
No email account? No problem! We'll help you set up a
new account... or if you prefer, you can send emails from our guest account using the Mozilla Thunderbird email client
installed on our workstations... we'll even show you how!
Please note, our guest account cannot be used to receive messages (or get replies to any you send). Additionally, no record is kept on our system of any emails that you may send.
Laptop Facilities
In addition to using the comprehensive range of software
and facilities on our workstations, visitors can bring their own
laptop and plug-in directly to our hi-speed LAN [at either
of our 2 laptop stations], or they can connect to our [password protected] WiFi
network.
Our laptop visitors can even print direct to either of our network shared printers.
Unfortunately, Apple Mac users can't access our printers at present... but we're working on a solution!
Print Facilities
We currently have a Black & White (A4) Laser (set as the default printer) and a Colour (A3) Inkjet (which also prints at A4 size)... both of which are available for printing from all of our workstations.
Please let us know before using the Colour Inkjet, so we can ensure that the
correct paper size is loaded.
Please note that print charges are automatically calculated by our timing software... so check the number of pages before you select print for that 6 page e-ticket booking confirmation, or that 99 page Excel spreadsheet...
...or come and see us for assistance!
In addition, all our workstations have been configured to allow any document to be saved as a PDF file. Simply, choose the normal Print option and select PDF reDirect from the displayed list of available printers, and... voilà!
PDF reDirect provides a range of options for the generation of PDF files, including:
- Live preview of files.
- Optimize quality & file size.
- Merge PDF files.
- Encrypt your PDF files.
- And much more...

Copy, Scan & Fax Services
Visitors to the m@trix can also take advantage of our document copy (Black & White only) and/or Fax (both send & receive) services.
In addition, we have an A4 sized, full colour, high resolution scanner available for use by our visitors - we'll even show you how!
Please note, our scanner is shared across our network and visitors can access it directly from any of our workstations. You can
check out the RemoteScan web site, if you would like more information on how this is done.
And... if you [only] have a [printout] of a document that you need to edit, you can scan it using the MS Office Document Imaging software that's installed on our workstations, and export it straight into Microsoft Word... no re-typing required!
Digital Camera Facilities
All of our workstations have multi-format memory card readers installed. In addition, they are fitted with Multi-Format CD/DVD burners and hi-speed USB 2.0 ports that you can use. And, if that's not enough, we have a range of other connectors and [mobile phone card] adaptors available on request.

To cater for all of your CD/DVD burning needs,
we have Nero Burning ROM Premium Edition installed on our workstations. Whether it's just backing up your photos,
burning audio disks, or creating complete DVD videos that you can view on your TV...
Nero has a solution!
Our workstations also come fully equiped with
Logitech Quickcam Connect webcams which, in addition to being used from within instant messaging applications, can be
used to take snapshots or short videos that you can email to your friends.
To top it off... if your photos are too big to email, we have a program called PIXresizer which can be used to quickly and easily resize your photos (and without changing the originals in any way).
Recharging [USB & Other] Devices
So the battery on your mp3 player or
iPod has gone flat after listening to it on the beach all day... no problem!
We have USB ports available on our workstations which you can use to recharge while surfing the web or checking your mail.
Alternatively, you can leave it with us to recharge at our server, and come back and collect it later.
We also have phone chargers available which are suitable for some Sony Ericsson, Nokia & Motorola mobile phones. Or if you have your own, spare power points are available for you to recharge your phone... just ask!

At the m@trix we have
range of travel guides covering the Greek Islands (and other destinations) which are freely available for visitors to peruse. In
addition, we have maps of the island [of Naxos] and we're always happy to give tips & advice on places to see & things to do.
And we're also happy to give suggestions on places to eat...
Please note: We do not receive kickbacks or commissions of ANY kind! We simply recommend places that we have been to... where the food, and service, is good!
If we didn't like it ourselves, we won't recommend it! We also encourage your feedback, particularly if you've been to somewhere we recommended.
Book Exchange
During our own travels around Europe (and elsewhere), we quickly came to appreciate how hard it can be to obtain books to read that are in your own language... So when we setup the m@trix, one of the first things we did was to establish a Book Exchange in our café.
Initially, our collection consisted of [mainly] English editions - as we started by donating our own books - but over the years this has grown to include books written in...

Please note: We do not buy or sell books. Our Book Exchange is provided as a free service and has grown in size and diversity of languages, not only because of our own efforts, but due to the kind donations of many of our visitors!
Kids Corner & Games
In keeping with our aim to cater for all
of our visitors... we haven't forgotten those who are too
young (perhaps?) to require our other services. We've therefore created our very own Kids Corner with both kids-height
table and [colourful] chairs, together with puzzles, games, play dough and colouring books,
to keep them amused while mum and dad check their email and surf the net, or just chill-out.
We also have a selection of games
for our older visitors who just want a break (from the sun maybe?). At present these include Monopoly, Scrabble,
Backgammon, Chess, Checkers, Dominoes and [of course] decks of cards. For the really adventurous...
we have Pass the Pigs!
All our games are free... just come and take some time out, or while away the hours while you wait for your ferry!
