Firstly... G'day, and a big antipodean welcome from your hosts Carole & Geoff (from New Zealand & Australia, respectively). Now a little about us...
Geoff is a qualified freelance software developer & designer, with over 18 years experience in the
industry. His work has covered such diverse environments as [large] mainframe and Unix systems, PCs and
the web... in Australia, South Africa & the United Kingdom (and now Greece).
Carole's expertise is in Training & Development (& Adult Education), particularly with respect to training people in the use of computer systems in Australia, New Zealand and [also] the UK. She has also worked in amateur and professional theatre productions in both New Zealand and Australia, and has sung and performed in Cabaret in the West End of London & elsewhere in the UK. And of course... she can cook!
After some 10 years working in the UK,
and a further 2 years travelling extensively around Europe in a motor
home, Carole & Geoff decided it was time for a new adventure! In keeping with their future role, they
discovered the m@trix for sale on the internet. They came, they saw (a run-down bar
& internet games shop), realised the potential... and decided to purchase, and spend their
summers (or should that be winters?) living and working on the beautiful [and largely undiscovered]
island of Naxos.
After much hard work, and a certain amount of [initial] heartache, the m@trix was re-born as you see it today!
The m@trix [now] has a modern, warm and inviting atmosphere. We have travel guides for our visitors to peruse, a book exchange and traditional [offline] games - chess or scrabble anyone? - all free of charge. Of course, we also have modern (fully equipped) workstations, with a fast network and hi-speed internet access, & a comprehensive range of software pre-installed.
Geoff keeps our equipment in pristine condition, with continuous updates of both hardware and the wide variety of software available for our visitors. He also spends a great deal of time ensuring that the systems [& environment] are clean, safe and secure, for [both] our business visitors and those who are here on holiday.
We also provide a variety of snacks, yummy cakes and great breakfasts to start the day... and, let's
not forget, great coffee and hot tea! All of our breads, cakes, muffins and scones are homemade by Carole's
magic hands, with recipes from
New Zealand, Australia
& Europe (and from the internet... of course). Plus... all of our smoothies and juices are packed
full of fresh fruit - no syrups here!
